People experiencing depression often don’t recognize the symptoms.  Many people believe that depression is a condition of persistent sadness or tearfulness. While this is true for some, many people experiencing depression never feel sad.

My clients often report feeling numb, uninterested, or irritable.  They tell me that they feel tired all of the time, and aren’t motivated to do things that they once enjoyed.

How Can Therapy Help?

Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT)  is short term, evidence based intervention that has been clinically proven to help reduce symptoms of depression (a very fancy way of saying that it’s proven to help people feel better fast).

Identify Thoughts and Behaviors

I’ll teach you how to identify thoughts and behaviors that might be contributing to your depression.  We’ll also work to uncover things that you once enjoyed

Modify Thoughts and Behaviors

We’ll work together to alter thoughts and behaviors contributing to depression.  During our work together, I’ll support you in re-starting hobbies, connecting with friends or doing other things that you once enjoyed.  I’ll help you to start to think differently about yourself and the world around you.

Evaluate/ Educate

During our work together, I’ll help you reduce your symptoms and maintain these gains in the long term.  To do this, we will evaluate your progress at several points during therapy.  As we learn more about what’s working for you, I will provide you with tools and resources that you can continue to use long after therapy is complete.  

After treatment is complete, you will feel more energized and engaged in your life, and you will have the tools to maintain these gains overtime.
