Anxiety Therapy for Ambitious People in Asheville

Helping You Navigate Anxiety So You Can Enjoy Your Life Again.

Your’e an ambitious person, and your high standards and drive to succeed have served you well. You love what you do, but recently, something changed. All of a sudden you looked up and thought to yourself, “Is THIS really what I’ve worked so hard to achieve?”. Over the past few moths, you’ve been feeling really stressed out, you haven’t been sleeping well, and you just aren’t finding joy in the thing you used to love.

Originally, you associated these feelings with a busy season at work or a difficult time at home, but you are starting to wonder if you will ever feel “normal” again.

On the surface, things are still looking great, but, on the inside, things are falling apart. Despite your best efforts, you haven’t been able to feel better on your own.

With Cognitive Behavior Therapy, I’ll help you change how you think and what you do so that you can let go of your anxiety and start feeling like yourself again.

Hey! I’m Sam.

I’m a Cognitive Behavior Therapist, and I specialize in working with ambitious people with anxiety. Through Cognitive Behavior Therapy, I’ll help you decrease your anxiety, improve your sleep and find joy at work and at home.

My Approach

Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT)  is short term, evidence-based intervention that has been clinically proven to help reduce symptoms of anxiety (a very fancy way of saying that it’s proven to help people feel better fast).

CBT is based on the idea that our thoughts impact our feelings and behaviors. When I use CBT to treat anxiety, I start by helping you identify the thoughts and actions that lead to your anxiety, and then I teach you how to change your thoughts and actions so that you can feel less anxious.

My approach is very collaborative and fun. I’m not a “smile and nod” therapist. I’ll actually talk to you, and give you tasks to do between sessions. I love working with clients who are new to therapy, and I take a really educational, goals-based approach. I’m really open to feedback, and my number one objective is to help you reach your goals as quickly as possible.

How it Works

Step 1:

Click the “Make an Appointment” button and choose a time that works for you.

I’ll send you a quick survey, and we’ll have a quick chat to determine if we’re a good fit.

Step 2:

If we choose to work together, we’ll schedule an initial appointment. In this session, I’ll ask a lot of questions to learn more about your current challenges and your goals for therapy.

During this appointment, we’ll make a plan to tackle your anxiety together.

Step 3:

We’ll meet weekly for 55 minute sessions.

Each week, we’ll review your progress from the previous week, set an agenda, and wrap up with a goal for the next week.

After treatment is complete, you will feel more calm and in control, and you will have the tools necessary to maintain your anxiety free life.

Frequently Asked Questions

I’m new to therapy. What’s it really like?
Counseling sessions typically last 50-55 minutes. Sessions usually begin by providing information about the previous week and setting a goal or an intention for the session. Then, we will work together to develop solutions to the problems that brought you into therapy. We will close the session by summarizing what was discussed and assigning tasks for you to work on between sessions.

How often will we meet and how long will I be in therapy?
This answer depends largely on what type of challenges you are facing and how long you have been struggling before seeking support. Typically, clients see the most success when they meet with me weekly. Many clients feel better after just eight to twelve weeks. Therapy may be shorter if symptoms are mild or longer for more complex issues.

Do I have to talk about my childhood? I’m really nervous to open up that can of worms!
We can talk about your past if you want to, but it’s not necessary to start feeling better. I believe that we can tackle your anxiety in stages. You can do a lot by focusing solely on concerns that are in the present.

When you’ve learned how to process your feelings and take care of yourself when you’re feeling overwhelmed, you may feel more comfortable diving into your past. However, you can live a life free of anxiety without delving into your history—- it’s honestly up to you!

How do I make an appointment?
I offer 24/7 scheduling via the website. This allows you to schedule quickly at a time that is convenient to you. Once you've scheduled, I will follow up with a quick email containing the paperwork and the next steps.
